Chair Rail

 

Chair rail can be described as a piece of molding that is installed anywhere from thirty to forty eight inches above the floor, usually at a height around thirty six inches, and generally running the entire perimeter of the room.Chair rail serves both a decorative yet practical purpose. Originally designed to protect walls from the damage incurred from chair back and furniture scuffs. Today chair rail still serves in that capacity but is commonly associated more with decorative finishing. Chair rail provides a way in which to separate two different colors or finishes on the same wall.

You may want to paste wallpaper on the top section of the wall and paint or panel the bottom section, while staining or painting the chair rail. The versatility of the chair rail and its surroundings is limitless. Whatever combination that you may come up with will certainly create a beautiful accent in any room
